Damaged Hair and Egg Whites

Damaged and unmanageable hair is definitely one of the best ways to ruin a woman’s day. How would you exactly feel if your crowning glory looks like a bird’s nest and seems to have a mind of its own? And to make it even more exasperating, all these damages are caused by relaxing, perming and colouring that you have done to your hair which are supposed to make it beautiful. You are now finally getting noticed because of your lifeless, dull and frizzy hair. It is time to press the panic button. Fortunately, here come natural treatments and egg whites to the rescue.

There are several useful and safe ways egg whites, combined with other natural ingredients, can bring back life and lustre to your hair.

  • Beat egg whites and thoroughly mix with plain yogurt. Apply the mixture to your scalp through hair ends and let it stand for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with tap water.
  • Whip and mix egg whites (yolks can be used also) with olive oil and honey and then generously apply to the ends of your hair, leave for 30 minutes and then rinse with water.
  • Separate the egg white from the yolk, and then whip the egg white with fork. Mix egg yolk with little water in a blender then pour the mixture into the egg white. Massage to your hair for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  • Mayonnaise, castor oil, avocado, lemon juice, apple cider and banana can also be mixed with the egg whites and make excellent hair masks.

Natural treatment using egg whites as the main ingredient should be done once a week for one month or until the desired lustre and body is achieved. Essential oils and healing properties of fruits and other natural ingredients perfectly compliment egg whites making it an ideal and effective treatment for damaged hair.

Why does egg white particularly make a good hair treatment and conditioner? An egg has high protein content with the egg white having the higher protein count than the yolk. Protein strengthens the weakened and brittle hair strands caused by heat and chemicals. The egg’s cholesterol component serves as moisturizer while its high fat content conditions hair and prevents breakage and split ends. The original hair texture will never be the regained after the damage but its lustre and shine can be brought back with the aid of cost efficient home remedies such as egg whites.
